Give the Gift of Life this Holiday Season

Once again Fun Spot in Orlando will hold a Blood Drive to help increase the region’s blood supply. On Friday, December 3, the Orlando park will have Community Blood Centers of Florida from 4:30 – 9:30 pm collecting blood. Fun Spot will offer each person who does provide blood a $20 Track Sampler armband that may be used that night or in the future. Give because you want to help, because of the season of giving, because it is the right thing to do. But if you give, you will get, from Fun Spot.

SkyCoaster has L.E.D. lights

Now the world’s tallest SkyCoaster is also the flashiest. Hundreds of new L.E.D. lights that change colors, movements, and rhythms have been added to two of the 300 foot white poles that comprise SkyCoaster. Like the Ferris Wheel in Orlando, these lights “dance” and can put on quite a show. The kick-off for these lights was a party November, 17th when 500+ people from the IAAPA amusement park trade show came by for a private party to drive the tracks, ride the rides, and soar on SkyCoaster. If you haven’t seen SkyCoaster at night, you haven’t seen half the show. Come by and watch. We are still free admission.

E-Cards and E-Systems will be in the Orlando park

From the IAAPA show, the amusement park tradeshow, Fun Spot in Orlando is looking to change to an E-Card system for its arcade and rides. A change in the system will be here by Christmas break. Let us know what you think of the system after you try it. If it works well, you may see it at the Kissimmee park as well. Looking forward to seeing you-all at Christmas.

Fun Spot is FUN for employees as well as guest!

One of the challenges in making sure our guests have fun is that often our employees have to work on holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. So Fun Spot will be open on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but we do not open until 2 pm, allowing our employees time to spend with families in the morning. Furthermore, there is a tradition of our management taking turns to make holiday feasts for our employees to eat when they get to work. So if you come these holidays, don’t be surprised if our employees head to our Break Room between rides to gobble down some turkey, potatoes, and stuffing made by a member of management. They return to their rides with a full belly and a smile on their face. Many employees volunteer to work the holiday so they can participate in this Fun Spot tradition. We want it to be a Fun Spot for our employees too.

Fun Spot Goes to IAAPA

The biggest trade show (IAAPA) in the world for amusement parks and attractions was held last week in Orlando and Fun Spot was there. Fun Spot was submitted for two advertising awards but won neither. Oh well. Fun Spot has won two awards in previous years for its advertising. Over 30 Fun Spot employees walked the showroom floor seeing new rides, new ideas, and tasting new foods. Hopefully some of that “newness” will soon be coming to a Fun amusement park near you. I know of two Spots that will have some new stuff soon. Stay posted.
