Fun Spot has a Christmas treat for you.....2 new rides!

Fun Spot USA in Kissimmee – AREA 51
We add to our mix of thrill and excitement the mystery and suspense from an old-time “haunted” attraction updated with strobe lights, mirrors, fog and a good dose of humor. We call it “AREA 51”; you’ll call it Huge Fun. It is included in our Ride Armband and our Extreme Armband, or available for a $3 ticket.  (optional)  We dare you to enter Area 51. We double dare you to experience the thrill of Hot Seat. We triple dare you to fall 300 feet from the World’s Tallest SkyCoaster. Do you dare?

Fun Spot Action in Orlando – Gyro Loop
After taking a spin on our go-karts, spinning on our Paratrooper and Scrambler rides, now spin upside down on the new Gyro Loop. As you are seated you will go up and spin over and then down and spin around again, sometimes head over heels, other times head first as you are going up and/or down.. If you think the description is dizzying, wait for the ride. Now open. It is included in our Ride Armband and our Unlimited Armband or $3 per ride. You’ll “flip” for it.

Fun Spot Open Christmas

We at Fun Spot know that people will want to have FUN on Christmas Day. So we will open at 2 pm for great times, great memories at a great value. So you may ask, when does the Fun Spot employees ever get a day off, if we are open on the holidays? The answer is tomorrow! Yep, on Wednesday, December 14th, both of our parks will be closed so that ALL of our employees can enjoy a Christmas Party with each other. So the doors will be closed tomorrow,(and then re-open Thursday at Noon in both parks) BUT you can still purchase unlimited armbands and Annual Passes and book Birthday Parties On-Line at www.FunSpotAttractions.com. Yes the computers will still work tomorrow. But the employees will “Party On”.

Speaking of Annual Passes, remember we are only doing 1,000 of them. So far hundreds of families have signed up for yearlong fun at both Fun Spot Parks. Order them before December 25th and save $50. That’s a one-third savings. You know if do the math, a $100 Annual Pass that is good for up to 365 Armbands (one a day for a year) would mean the armband would only be 27 cents a day! That’s HUGE savings!

Fun Spot Attractions Moves into Waterparks with SplashTacular, Inc.

 Article courtesy of Splashtacular
Orlando, Florida, November 17, 2011 — Fun Spot Attractions Owner and President, John Arie recently made a crucial strategic decision for the company.  Although the company’s locations in both Orlando and Kissimmee enjoyed excellent growth and profitability, he decided—along with his family and team—that the timing was perfect to take his family entertainment venue to the next level by adding a waterpark component to the Orlando location.   His team was determined to create something unique, and truly special unlike any family entertainment venue in Orlando, the theme park capital of the world.   “Waterparks have become so commonplace that differentiation between facilities and their respective experiences has become harder for guests to perceive, and that they are becoming acclimated to the norm in that they have simply become a commodity with a different theme,” said Steve Levine, SplashTacular CEO.

“Fun Spot Attractions & SplashTacular are the perfect combination, the perfect team.  I have no doubt that together we will have the most exciting facility and rides in the area.  We are looking forward to entering the waterpark industry with SplashTacular as our supplier and partner,” stated John Arie.

“Our best work comes from collaboration with specialists who are the best in the industry, which is the reason Water Technology, Inc., the premier design group in the waterpark industry, was selected by John Arie to create a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, signature waterpark, that satisfies their financial and demographic objectives,” explains Levine.

“When meeting with John and his son, John Jr. they shared with me their true passion and love for people, which is infectious and is the heart and soul of their company culture.  They further explained that their waterpark should appeal to their current client base of more than 500,000 annual visitors, promote American made products and services by incorporating SplashTacular rides, all of which are dynamic attractions and features that push the guest experience to new levels, and finally integrating energy conservation and sustainability measures as much as possible,” said Doug Whiteaker, President of Water Technology.

Fun Spot Attractions is on the verge of reinventing the outdoor waterpark guest experience. The park will have one-of-a-kind next generation attractions that will be exclusive to this venue. Nowhere else in the theme park capital of the world will you be able to experience these types of attractions except right here in Orlando!!  Whether you’re a tot, a teenager, adult or grandparents… this family friendly environment will leave a lasting impression like nowhere else.

Lots of news this week

Lots of news to report this week. Where to begin? We will save the HUGE news for the end. Let’s start off with what’s happening next week, IAAPA. The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions is having its annual convention in Orlando. They expect 25-30,000 people to attend. Of course Fun Spot people will be there, but we have a couple of honors also. On Sunday night we will host a kick off “Behind The Scenes” event at our Kissimmee park. The other Behind the Scenes for the week will be at Disney, Sea World, Aquatica and Legoland. We are honored to be in that category. Plus our Marketing Director Mark Brisson will be a speaker in one of the break out sessions. It’s his fourth time being a session speaker. (PS – Mark was also just voted as the Chairperson for the Marketing Advisory Committee for Osceola County).

Next week will also be Scout Week at our parks. If you are a Boy, Girl or Cub Scout, come in uniform on Monday – Friday and receive the $35 Armband for only $10 for you and $10 for one guest, if you choose. Next Thursday the I-Drive Chamber will celebrate International Drive’s 40th birthday. Fun Spot will be there celebrating with many elected officials and I-Drive businesses.

But for the news that you all have been calling about – Annual Passes. Starting Monday, November 21 at 9 am, you can log onto our website www.FunSpotAttractions.com and choose either park, and you will be able to purchase either of our two new annual passes. So what are the details? One Pass is called the Any Day Pass. It is valid starting December 25,2011 through December 31, 2012. You can go to either park and show your pass for a $35 Unlimited Armband as many times as you would like through out 2012. We are charging $150 for the pass BUT, purchase it BEFORE Christmas and it will only cost $100 plus tax. Save $50. The other pass is our Week Day Pass. It will be valid starting January 2, - December 24, 2012. It is only valid on Weekdays (Mon-Fri) at either park and major holidays/holiday weeks are blacked out. Details and dates will be on the website on November 21. The cost is only $75, BUT purchase before Christmas and pay only $50. A $25 savings. We will sell ONLY 1,000 of the Any Day and 4,000 of the Week Day pass. So order early. We expect to sell out before the New Year. So come and spend 2012 with Fun Spot and save. This news is HUGE!

Fun Spot hit the magazines this week

Two publications had stories about Fun Spot in their most recent editions which hit the newsstands this week. Locally, I Love Orlando, a tourist publication featured the new Power Trip Roller Coaster at Fun Spot USA in Kissimmee. A nice photo of 4 people riding the coaster was included. It wasn’t John Jr riding the coaster this time. Instead it was two of his aunts, an uncle and a cousin. Hey, we tell you we are a family park. The Arie family truly does own, operate and is involved in all aspects of our parks. Also, the national magazine Funworld had a four page story on the history of International Drive. It shared how John Sr started Fun’ n Wheels just off I-Drive in the 70’s, sold it and left the area in the early 90’s, returning to open Fun Spot in 1997. I-Drive has changed a great deal in the last 40 years, and the Arie Family has been part of the changes. (The digital version of the November edition isn’t available for 3 weeks. If you want a good history of I-Drive see the two part special on Orange TV by Erika Cotton HERE. We also had an interview and photo shoot this week, for an upcoming December story in Orlando Attractions Magazine. Its Huge that we don’t need to hire a PR firm to get into magazines, but by providing safe, clean, fun and having great guests and supporters like you-all, people want to write about us. Thanks for being our advocates.

Teaser: And for a thousand people will be offering an Annual Pass. Details next week. Going on sale November 21.

Fun Spot cares

This October we have had a successful Pastor Appreciation promotion where we offered people who work at a house of worship a two week period where they were able to get our Unlimited Armbands for only $10, for themselves and their family. Now we are providing a FREE party to the employees and volunteers of UCP (United Cerebral Palsy). We honor those people whose dedication to help children with different bio-chemical and neurological disorders have made them heroes to us. On Thursday, October 27th, 450 who have RSVP to UCP will have a fun filled party at our Orlando park. Finally, in October, we have been giving out pink cotton candy on all the sales calls our sales people make to local military bases, ticket offices and tour operators. It is our way to recognize the need for breast cancer awareness and donations. October is a month where we try to honor and give back to the community and those who do so much for the community. We care!

Orlando Fun Partners party at Fun Spot – Kissimmee

On Wednesday, Oct 19 over 600 people from the hospitality industry who have joined with 14 second-tier attractions for an organization called Orlando Fun Partners, had their big Fall Party at Fun Spot USA. Brighthouse’s tourist related channel called OVN was the sponsor. Food was provided CiCi’s Pizza, Flippers Pizza at Old Town, Boston Lobster Feast and Fun Spot. Besides the thrill rides, go-karts and SkyCoaster ride, each person had the opportunity to get information and gifts from members of the Orlando Fun Partner Attractions like: Pirates Cove mini Golf, Pirates Dinner Adventure, Orlando Balloon Rides, Kennedy Space Center and ten other attractions. Plus there were tables from Allegra Printing and Medical Concierge Services. The arcade was turned into a mini trade show with booths filled with info and prizes. Our TV spokesperson, John Arie Jr, made a visit to each of the tables and met hundreds of hospitality workers. It was no small party. Nope, it was HUGE!

This year we are offering Pastors and those who work at a House of Worship a special promotion to honor them and their families. Starting Monday, October 10 and for the next two weeks on Monday – Friday only, people who work at a House of Worship can receive the $34.95 Unlimited Armband for only $10 for the Pastor and up to 3 family members. So a Pastor can come any weekday in that 2 week time frame and get 4 Unlimited Armbands at either of our two parks for only $40. It is almost like paying for one and getting three free. Pre registration is Required and can be completed HERE. Proof of employment is required. Please share this information with your Pastor, your friend’s Pastor, your co-worker’s Pastor. It will be a blessing to them. It is a nice way to say we appreciate what you do for our communities, our families and our spirits.

Fun Spot is a TV Star???

Once again one of our parks has been chosen to be a location for a national TV show to film at. In this week’s episode of “Dance Moms” on the Lifetime Network, not only will you see the in-fighting and the pushy coaches and driven mothers, you will see one young dance couple go out on a date to Fun Spot USA in Kissimmee (between minutes 12 – 16). Fun Spot has already been on the TLC Channel, MTV and many national commercials and short films. Here is the link to check out this week’s episode of “Dance Moms". By the way, a locally produced program called Orlando Attractions TV is also filming in our parks every week for the next 3 months. Check out the latest episode here. If Fun Spot gets more TV exposure maybe we could be on the next “Dancing With The Stars”? What do you think?

Orlando Attractions magazine (and TV show)

On Orlando Attractions Magazine Youtube channel and on Brighthouse local access there is a 30 minute weekly program from Orlando Attraction Magazine. They do reviews and updates on all the Central Florida attractions and events. Last week they began a 3 month agreement to shoot their episodes at a Fun Spot park. We have great backgrounds for them to do their “hosting” duties in front of. The first week was at the Orlando park, and the second week was shoot at the Kissimmee park this past Monday. Expect it to hit the “net” at the end of the week. Learn great info and see our parks in the backgrounds. And sometimes they will even report on Fun Spot. We are getting ready for our close-up. Link to their web channel HERE .

Going International (in Portuguese)

This past weekend, Fun Spot was at the Third Annual Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Expo held at First Baptist Church. Almost a hundred booths were set up with local businesses that work with Brazilian tourist and Brazilian residents in Central Florida. Fun Spot was there with our brochure translated into Portuguese. Fun Spot now has its brochure in Spanish also. Let us know if you would like our material in either Spanish or Portuguese, or is their another language you want Fun Spot in?

Our Rides attendant Mike helped us out, he is fluent in Portuguese.

We are in the press again

Fun Spot has been getting Press again. The Orlando Sentinel did a very nice story on us last week. Here is a link if you didn’t have a chance to read it -   http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-cfb-cover-fun-spot-0815-20110814,0,7167428.story. Plus this summer we have been in Orlando Business Journal a couple of times and have been interviewed for a story for this week’s upcoming edition. We have also been interviewed for a story in the national publication Fun World magazine for their October issue. Now we might not like everything that everyone has written about us, but we like that people write about us. Let us know if you see a story or another blog that mentions Fun Spot. We’d appreciate it.

On the Road Again

Fun Spot CEO, John Sr and his wife Lois have been traveling to many other amusement parks throughout the USA looking for ideas, and seeing what customers are enjoying as plans are being made for the ten acre expansion of the Orlando Fun Spot. Senior has been to two parks in NJ,2 in PA, 1 in GA, and 1 in Conn. He brought a team of 4 up to the Wisconsin Dells to see 5 parks up there, before heading to St. Louis. One more big trip to Holiday World in Santa Clause, IN is planned as many members of the Fun Spot team are going to the Golden Ticket awards ceremony hosted by Holiday World, this September.

Monday, August 1, 2011

TV Spokesperson

The new TV Spokesperson for the Tourist Channel is (this is HUGE news) Fun spot’s own John Jr! Yep, the guy from our TV commercials will start doing “hosting” duties on the local Tourist Channel that is shown in many hotel rooms in Central Florida. From the time John Jr did his first Fun Spot TV commercial in 2001, he has been doing more and more TV work. Fun Spot will do 3-4 commercials a year, plus TV announcements and Christmas wishes. 2 years ago John Jr did some co-hosting of the Saturday night movies on CW18 television. He was also in a PSA with Sheriff Jerry Demings when he was Director of Public Safety. And he is under consideration for a new TV campaign that the Kissimmee CVB might be doing. With all this TV work, he still finds time to be the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of both Fun Spot Parks. Way to go Junior!

50 Million Plus

That was the HUGE news that came from the Visitors Bureau and Mayor Theresa Jacobs back in June. The Orlando area became the first tourist area in the United States to have more than 50 million visitors a year. More people visited our region in 2010 than any other place or time. Both Fun Spot parks saw more people, did more rides, and had growth years in 2010. Thanks to all of you who helped us be part of the Huge news of being the Number #1 tourist city in the US.

The Future of Fun Spot

Fridays are not just Facebook contest day at Fun Spot, it is also the day when our team comes together to learn more and team build, (plus we do “Safety Lessons on Safety Fridays”). Today’s Friday meeting was a little more special than usual. Our Owner/CEO/ Founder (the BIG guy), John Arie Sr shared his vision of our future with the expansion of the Orlando Park, Fun Spot Action. One of the first things John said was, “We will have some type of water attraction.” Although no specific plans have been made yet it was very cool to hear that we would have an area to cool off on those hot summer days. Plans for more go-kart tracks, and with the success of our Roller Coaster at the Kissimmee Park, you have to know that a coaster in Orlando is in the plans.

The only definite is that we are already starting to move dirt. That’s right; we have received permits and are building additional parking on the land. Before the end of summer there will be more parking spaces for you and for our employees. But you want more info? Well, we can share with you a “Bubble” drawing that a designer has created of what the park might look like. There will be changes to this first draft, but it gives you some ideas of what we could be doing. What you think of the plans? Add your comments to our Facebook wall. Have a great weekend, at Fun Spot!

Power Trip Coaster is officially Open

“The HUGE day has arrived and now the Power Trip “Spinning” Coaster is open at Fun Spot USA. We had the CEO of Fun Spot, the CEO of Power Trip Energy Drinks, Fun Spot TV Spokesperson, Osceola County Commissioner Michael Harford, and a gator named “Willy Bite” from our friends at Gatorland to chomp down on our Ribbon to open the new ride. If that was not enough, our new 10,000 square foot Arcade/Snack Bar building opened giving our guests great games, great food and a cool dry place to visit if a summer storm should pop up for a short while. If you haven’t been to Fun Spot USA recently, you don’t know what you are missing. Check us out – we are Free Admission. See you soon. It will be Huge!”

OMG

There were so many people at Fun Spot’s 13th Birthday Party at both our parks. We had more people come out then we have ever had before. Yes the lines were long, but we get them moving and making sure people had fun! There were jugglers, stiltwalkers, face painters, balloon twisters, free samples of Power Trip energy drink, Chic Fil-a cows on our Ferris Wheel and SkyCoaster. We had a photographer from Channel 9 – WFTV taking photos. We had a photographer from Channel 6 – WKMG taking photos. We gave away thousands of cookies from Doubletree hotels. We gave away Door Prizes from our friends at Pirates Dinner Adventure, Ripley’s Believe it or Not!, from Boggy Creek Airboat rides, from McDonalds Gourmet Bistro and more. We gave away towels from 20/20 Eyeglass superstore. And we had people. Lots of people. We offered a great value on our armbands and the people came. Let us catch our breath and then watch us again have another big party on Saturday, July 2 as we have the ribbon cutting of our new Power Trip Roller Coaster. Watch for a promotion where we will be giving away free rides on the Coaster for that day and for the month of July.”

Guess who is coming to a movie theater near you?

That’s right! He’s back! This cut-out of our TV Spokesperson John Jr will be in 3 local theaters this June and July. He will be filled with brochures that have discount coupons in them. Which 3 theaters will he be at? Well all three are in Central Florida and serve both locals and tourists just like our parks do. Try to figure it out and we will tell you in a future blog. So the next time you go to the theater and see cut-outs of Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and others, look for John Jr. as well. This is your “Coming Attraction”.

Our owner, John Arie and his son John Arie Jr. are traveling the country with several of our maintenance crew and managers to scout out new attractions for the 10 acres. Cinco de Mayo FUN

John Jr.
Photo Courtesy of Boggy Creek Airboat rides

John Jr celebrated the holiday by participating in a hospitality golf tournament at Falcon’s Fire Course in Kissimmee. The W.H.O. Tournament was held on May 4th, and Junior took time to have fun with the Boggy Creek Airboat team, wearing sombreros, holding gators and shooting above par. But even if Junior is on an airboat on a golf course, people still want him to do the “It’s HUGE!” wave. If you see Junior, at a Magic game, at the mall, in our parks, in a store, ask him to do the “It’s HUGE! wave for you. (But don’t ask when he is with his family in church, okay).

A Celebration with Salt

In April Fun Spot had a booth at the annual Bacchus Bash, held at Premium Outlet Malls on I-Drive. It was the most successful Bacchus Bash ever with over $122,000 raised for scholarships and over 25,000 people in attendance. Fun Spot tried to put a unique spin on the food and beverage street party by offering our popcorn seasoned with either Black Truffle Salt or Chardonnay Salt. For this annual party of hotels and their fine restaurants, Fun Spot was able to bring our fun popcorn and make it just a little “Fancy-Schmancy” for the event.

Boy Scouts are the Best

During the last month, Fun Spot had the good fortune to be part of the Golden Eagle dinners in both Orange and Osceola counties. Rubbing elbows with Mayors and Sheriffs and many of the top business people in Central Florida, we all joined together to celebrate the virtues of Boy Scouting.

SkyCoaster was La Loca Today!

“SkyCoaster was La Loca today as radio personalities La Loca , D Strong and their crews came to soar from the world’s tallest SkyCoaster. Coming from 102 Jamz, these brave people took on the world’s steepest banking curve on our Vortex go-kart track, and then it was to the ultimate thrill, the 300 foot SkyCoaster. Part Sky-diving, part hang-gliding, all thrills. Starting next week Jamz will be offering SkyCoaster tickets on a promotional deal. So if you have the nerves of La Loca and the strength of D Strong, you too can soar.”

The Big Game with the Huge Guy

At Amway Center this past Tuesday night, the Magic played game 5 in the series and Fun Spot TV spokesperson John Jr celebrated his 32nd Birthday as the guest of Brighthouse television in their private suite. Joined by his wife Tracy, John Jr had a great celebration, even as people stopped and asked him to do his trademark “It’s HUGE!”. John happily will converse with people, do the phrase and talk about Fun Spot. Just don’t ask him to do the dance from the commercial. He is one person who won’t be on Dancing With the Stars anytime in the near future.

Surveys, Surveys, Surveys

Over this past weekend over 200 people were randomly surveyed in our two parks. The consensus seems to be that people would like us to add more water rides and water play areas. People want roller-coasters also. But should we get a wooden coaster, or a steel coaster? People were quite vocally in their opinions with Steel the present favorite. Which would you want? No surprise that our multi-level go-kart tracks were named as the number item that people like the best at Fun Spot. What is your favorite? What do you want us to add to our parks? Let us know.

New Nighttime Commercial

Fun Spot Attractions just released a new commercial shot at our Kissimmee Park showing the park as a happening night spot. Here’s a HUGE promotion for our Kissimmee Park.

This coming Saturday, March 26; Budweiser in conjunction with their local distributor City Beverages will be sampling a new beer, Select 55 at Fun Spot USA from 7-9 pm. In addition, to celebrate this promotion a Hot Air Balloon of a Select 55 bottle will be doing short tethered flights from Fun Spot USA that evening. The balloon rides and samples are FREE but will only be there for just under 2 hours. The Select 55 Balloon rides will give you a bird’s eye view of the area. Of course we can always provide that HUGE view from 300 feet up on our World’s Tallest SkyCoaster. So this Saturday soar from SkyCoaster or float up with a Select 55 Balloon. Thanks to City Beverages.

Where in the World is John Jr?

Fun Spot opens its new SkyCoaster building

Fun Spot USA opened its new SkyCoaster building Thursday February 24th. We still have about 4 more weeks worth of work left on the new admission/arcade building before that will open. Once the new admission is open then we will begin the demolition of the old SkyCoaster building and install the new coaster, Galaxy Spin. We would like to open the coaster by June, just in time for the busy summer season!
